Objectives of Adopt Moreletaspruit

  • To create awareness of the value of green zones in suburban areas.
  • To create opportunities for the community of the City of Tshwane to participate in a voluntary and coordinated way in improving and conserving the Moreletaspruit corridor.
  • To draw up and maintain an approved Environmental Management Plan (EMP) in cooperation with the relevant authorities.
  • To coordinate the activities of volunteer interest groups in the Moreletaspruit catchment according to the approved Environmental Management Plan.
  • To help people realize that nearly all land-use activities within the catchment affect the quality of the Moreletaspruit and its tributaries.
  • To assist the relevant authorities in restoring and maintaining the Moreletaspruit and its tributaries in the best possible ecological state so that they serve as a wildlife refuge for fauna and flora in the area.
  • To help conserve genetic diversity and prevention of loss of species along the Moreletaspruit and its tributaries.
