Affiliation provides the opportunity to:
- Become part of a structured and sustainable Adopt-a-River Programme with institutional support by the Department of Water Affairs, the City of Tshwane Municipality and the newly constituted Limpopo/ Crocodile-West/ Marico Rivers Catchment Management Agency.
- Become involved in the protection of South Africa's scarce water resources as volunteer partners of the Department of Water Affairs, the City of Tshwane and the Limpopo Catchment Management Agency.
- Learn the concepts of integrated catchment management and how land use and other activities impact on the health of our river systems.
- Take part in establishing a volunteer ethic in South Africa in caring for our very important water resources -we should remember that "we all live downstream".
- Become aware of the interesting plants and animals found along the Moreletaspruit and its tributaries.

- Become the eyes and ears of the relevant authorities which are responsible for the management of the Moreletaspruit and its tributaries, as it is impossible for them to be aware of everything that happens along the Spruit at all times.
- Help restore the Moreletaspruit and its tributaries to the best possible state by assisting with solutions to solve problems.
- Participate in special events such as clean-ups, for example during Water Week, Mandela Day, World Environment Day and Global Week of Caring, so that our Spruit can become a pleasant nature area for all the citizens of the City of Tshwane.
- Receive the regular "Adopt Moreletaspruit" newsletter.
- To join in fun activities organised by existing Friends Groups along the Spruit such as bird watching, identification of indigenous species, lectures on water related topics and hikes.
